WHAT WE DO
Empowerment through
Peace Training

PEACE TRAINING
Empowering Youth and Communities
Head to Heart offers training for youth ages 4 – 18, and community facilitators of all ages. The peace training teaches: the identification, definition and response to peace-building and gender-based violence respectively.
ENGAGING & IMPACTFUL
Our Training Approach

WORKSHOPS
Training is provided through workshops, usually of approximately 30 – 50 persons (‘youth’ or ‘facilitators’). Workshops can occur at any time, either as part of Head to Heart’s set yearly programme or as an individual workshop as requested.

ACTIVITIES
Participants receive a booklet, which includes our flagship ‘Post to Parliament’ activity – where the participant writes to political decision-makers about the impact of gender-based violence on their lives, and what the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa could do better to protect it’s people and build peace.

METHODOLOGY
Training includes both theory (e.g Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory, Bessel van der Kolk’s Post-Traumatic Stress Research etc.) and highly practical components through collaborators like the A2B Human Optimisation Programme, which uses occupational intelligence activities often conducted in nature – in other words learning through doing.
FACILITATOR'S SHORT COURSE
Developing Community Facilitators
After on-boarding training in Cape Town and Johannesburg – participants are invited to a writing and healing retreat. Thereafter, the head to heart curriculum is taught virtually through 3 modules.
Once participants have completed the modular training, they are invited to demonstrate their teaching with youth at a Peace Jam event. The year ends with a celebratory Ubuntu Peace Dinner, where participants are given certificates as Head to Heart Facillitators.
